- to close one's place of business for the night.
It's 5 in the evening, so I'm going to close up shop.
- to "close" any location. For example, if one has people over at one's house, one could encourage visitors to leave by saying, " I'm tired, so I think I'm going to close up shop.
- to zip the zipper on one's pants.
