  1. used to get someone's attention.
    Yo, come here.
  2. used at the end of a sentence to emphasize a point.
    What's up, yo?
    You going to hook me up, yo?
    That's my knife, yo.
  3. used as a prefix to a greeting. Notes: "Yo" is the first person pronoun (i.e. "I") in Spanish.
    Yo, man, what's up?
