  • Well off, especially in terms of happiness or satisfaction.

    For example, "We are living in high cotton since we moved to our new location."

    In use at least since the early 1920's, especially in the South. Relates to the high price of cotton while other commodities were decreasing in value or to tall cotton plants which produced more bolls.
