  • to strongly defeat during a competitive activity. Etymology: someone that was "schooled" has been "taken to school." That is, taught how to do something. And then they are badly beaten in the process.
    Man, we schooled that team!
    I got schooled playing tennis today.

  • to be shown up badly during a competitive activity that requires some skill (tennis, darts, shooting pool, football, etc.) You have been "taken to school." You were taught how to do it, and got beaten badly in the process.
