gaff it up

  • to tape something very firmly. Commonly used by stage workers in Northern California (grips, best boys, lead gaffs).
    We had to gaff it up so it would stay.

  • from gaffer - the studio tech producer who sets everything up at the shoot - they tape all cables to the floor using 'gaffer' tape. (sometimes known as duct tape in UK)
