noun - uncountable
- Glurge is a sappy story meant to be inspirational and uplifting, but often with a darker element to it. Often glurge is intended to teach a moral lesson or provide a warning. These tales are nearly always claimed to be true, though they are either distortions of fact or flat out fictional. They often include one or more of the following: Dying mothers or children, cute aninmals, angels, and religious miracles. The term can apply to a single story or to the entire genre of such stories. Paraphrased from the glossary at snopes.com Example of usage: "My mother-in-law keeps sending me e-mails full of glurge."
