mokus

  • "old-timey". I heard it used almost only by Irish-Americans. I've tried to trace it - found one source that said it was Irish Gypsy.
    I was jet-lagged, so after just two beers I was completely mokus.

  • a medical condition that is undefinable. Humorous. If someone was feeling ill or out of sorts, "Sounds like you got the Mokus" or "Maybe you have the Mokus."

  • This word has been used in the A.A. community for at least 40 years to describe the state of mind of the newly sober member who is beginning to clear up.
