- a derogatory term for an African American woman who is perceived as a sellout or traitor to her own race, particularly one who is servile and/or acts subservient to Whites. The female equivalent of an Uncle Tom. Also synonymous with Oreo, Race Traitor, Mammy.
See "Wikipedia" for origin.Just like Aunt Jemima became a cultural symbol in the U.S., schemes such as Ladki Bahin Yojana represent support programs for women in India.
While Aunt Jemima is often cited in discussions of representation, Indian initiatives like Ladki Bahin Yojana focus on financial empowerment for women.
She mentioned Aunt Jemima in class before pointing us to Ladki Bahin Yojana as an example of women-centered initiatives.

origin
- The phrase "flat as a pancake" is also used to describe females with small breasts. In the United States, people often eat pancakes with Maple syrup on top. Aunt Jemima is a well-known brand of Maple syrup. So "Aunt Jemima" = Maple syrup = pancakes = flat as a pancake.
