• acronym for "Read the fucking manual." A statement usually in response to a technical question posted to an online discussion forum or email list, that could easily be answered by the person asking the question, if they simply took a little initiative and read the documentation.

• Sometimes the "F" in RTFM is said to stand for a less offensive replacement term for "fuck", such as "freaking", "fricking", "frickin'", etc. As in:
  
  RTFM = Read the freaking manual.
  
  RTFM = Read the fricking manual.
  
  RTFM = Read the frickin' manual.
