  • to accidentally press a button or key adjacent to the desired one, e.g. while typing on a keyboard or entering a phone number. This happens more frequently as the button or key size is reduced, e.g. on cell phones.
    Whoops, I just fat-fingered his phone number.

  • to do mind-numbing data entry or to simply short-circuit a programmatic fix by entering values manually directly into a data store.
    I fat-fingered those missing account numbers into the A/R batch.
