noun

  • (1) A last ditch effort.

    (2) A foolhardy maneuver or plan when out of options.

    (3) A "Hail-Mary"

    "On fourth down and no options downfield, the quarterback scrambled as a rivy in order to try and get the first down"

    "After being rejected all night, he decided to buy the most attractive girl at the bar a drink as a rivy before leaving for the night."

    "The general, who was out of options, attempted a rivy in order to save his troops from an utter defeat."
