- extreme sarcasm. From "sarcasm" + "caustic".

- When I coined the term 40+ years ago, it was meant to mean acidic sarcasm, or sarcasm that goes beyond the merely intellectual attack to a more visceral one that is defined by the difference and the level of attack.
