Definition of bet



  • A confirmation, or a contract. Affirmtive response. Origin: Craps (dice) casino game. When a player makes a "call bet", the dealer "books" the bet by saying "Bet", signifiying that both parties have "signed" a contract. Example: Player: "Give me 5 dollars on eleven" Dealer: "Bet!"
