My car/computer/garbage disposal went caput.

- pronounced kuh-PUT; also used to declare that something has ended without a clear defined end
Are you still in that trade? I'm not, it went caput.
The usual spelling is 'kaput'. Means finished, broken down, not working, of machinery, etc. 'my fridge is kaput.'
