- a "hug" performed by standing side-by-side with another person - hips together - and briefly putting one's hand on the other person's opposite hip or shoulder.
This term is currently extremely popular on the web. A video of a hip-hop performance at a Christian youth conference, featuring the lyric: "Gimme that Christian side hug" was posted to YouTube and has been watched more than 500,000 times.
