Definition of extercomment

extercomment

noun

  • a comment that is said to want to be heard by other people outside of the people that this comment-sayer is talking to.

Example: If one is talking to a close friend at a party and the friend says "I heard you don't like person X", oneself might make an extercomment saying "I like person X", in order to make the people who aren't in the conversation think of this one in a better light, if person X is liked among the people outside of the conversation.

    Synonym: sociocomment
