Definition of us

us

other

  • "me". A variant of the "editorial we" / "royal we". (That is, for example, a monarch saying "We are not amused." to mean "I am not amused.")

In certain parts of north England, people use the first person plural object pronoun instead of the subject pronoun. Thus, "Give it to us" can mean either "Give it to me" or have the normal grammatical sense.
