E
e-ticket
noun
- Not long ago, at Disney World/Land you had to purchase a book of tickets to ride the carnival rides. The tickets were arranged from A to E with E tickets being the most exciting, more wild rides. Hence the term- E-ticket ride meaning a wild, exciting or thrilling experience
Riding my motorcycle is such an E-Ticket!

- an incredibly exciting event; a rush
Going down Lombard Street on my skateboard was a total E-ticket!
Comes from the days in Disneyland before the park shifted to a single-admission system. In the old days (i.e., 25 years ago) visitors purchased admission and then tickets for the various rides. Different tickets admitted you to different rides, with "A" tickets getting you a ride on the Main Street Trolley or admission to "Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln," while "E" tickets were reserved for the really, really cool rides (bobsleds, Space Mountain, etc.). Though the expression obviously began in Southern California, demographic shifting has pushed its use nationwide -- however, only among those about 35 years old and above, since, alas, people my children's age never had the thrill of experiencing a literal "E" ticket ride.Last edited on May 13 2011.
