C

chinook

  • an unseasonably and sudden, constant warm wind that blows from the west to the east through the cascade mountain passes (late winter to early spring). It usually lasts for the better part of a day and will not only melt all the snow but dry up all the water too. Familiar to anyone living in the foothills of the eastern cascade mountains in Washington State and Oregon.
A chinook blew through yesterday and dried everything up!
