  • a woman; dates to Harlem, 1930s; spoken by Veronica Lake's character in the film "Sullivan's Travels" to Joel McCrea's character when describing how she'll look to the other hobos as the two join the train set to experience poverty in the Great Depression:
    They'll think I'm your frail.
    Also in Cab Calloway's lyric for "Minnie the Moocher," describing Minnie:
    She was the roughest, toughest frail, But Minnie had a heart as big as a whale . . .
