acronym for "face the wall." In multiplayer online computer gaming, a player will use the instant messaging function of a game to notify other players that he/she is temporarily not playing the game. Going "FTW" involves facing one's in-game avatar towards a wall as a sign that the player should be treated as a non-combatant.
