noun

  • a metaphorical tool used to resolve implausible plot elements; "deus ex machina". Also plot sledgehammer.
    The sudden ability for the crew and the moviegoers to be able to see the phantoms without special gear for no apparent reason was one of the movies biggest plot crowbars.
