big iron

  • a Harley Davidson motorcycle. "Big" is in reference to their size and "iron" to their originality as a "tractor" type motorcycle. Term was used especially when lightweight Japanese motorcycles first appeared.

Big Room, the

  • According to the stereotype, computer aficionados are loath to go outside. When someone mentions the outdoors, a computing fan may respond with, "What's that?" Answers vary depending on the time of day. For example:

    "Oh, it's the big room with the blue ceiling with that really bright light."

    "Oh, it's the big room with the black ceiling with all those tiny little lights."
