  • on the web, for many sites to link to a particular website using a particular phrase, such that the particular website is the first result when searching for the phrase.
    Due to Googlebombing, George W. Bush's web page used to be the first Google result when searching for "miserable failure".

grep

  • in a non-computing context, to search.
    Could you grep the menu for something vegan while I go to the bathroom?

    I like GUIs because I can grep them visually for what I'm looking for.
