do a thing with someone

  • to be linking a person. Linking means that you are not officially in a relationship with someone but you are 'seeing' each other. This includes 'kissing', 'hugging' and maybe sometimes more, until the couple that are linking feel they want to commit to a relationship they will carry on seeing each other for a while. Originally "do a ting".

dockman's hanky

  • Blowing one's nose by holding the other nostril with a finger. Done by dock workers. Also, the preferred method of many cyclists.
    I did not have a tissue, so I used the dockman's hanky.

  • form of address used in praise. To recognize that the person has attained the highest level of expertise in a particular endeavor. The origin comes for amateur sports. Examples: softball, bowling, golf, darts, pool, etc.
    "Come on Doctor, get this guy out," I yelled to our pitcher.
