  1. contraction of "you all." Standard American English doesn't have a 2nd person plural personal pronoun, so "y'all" is sometimes used to fill this gap. The term's use is mostly geographically limited to the Southern and Midwestern United States, as well as rural communities in other areas of the country. Sometimes prefixed with "all" even though it's redundant.
