thar

noun

  • object feminine singular form of that

Etymology: "that her" It's like saying "That her", and its the object of the sentence. Pronounced like (THahr).

    Example: There were three girls I was with: A, B, C. I bought A a soda and I bought B a coke, I also bought thar a Pepsi.

"thar" is referring to A, because A is less immediate within the contexts of the sentence. But if the word "her" was used then there would be ambiguity and we would not know if one is talking about A or B.

This is the most useful when talking about people who are present with you.

If A and B are in proximity while one is saying this, then instead of relying on the context of the sentence, one would rely on the context of their physical surroundings. If A is closer to you than B, than one would actually be referring to B.
