• NAK is a common computing abbreviation for "negative-acknowledge" (i.e. "not acknowledged"). The opposite of NAK is ACK.

  Originally, used to suggest that a discussion be moved from a public discussion group to e-mail. Now additionally used in business meetings to forestall lengthy conversation about a topic not core to the meeting.
