  • This word, 'lit', is one which I have not heard commonly used in decades. But I remember it being commonly used in the 60's,often by my parents and their crowd. They certainly did not qualify as hippies. So, they only used it in reference to alcohol.

    The odd little thing I remember was that there seemed to be a hierarchy in their slang for intoxication.

    !."a little tight'-the stage where one is relaxed,sometimes witty, delightful company in general

    2.'lit'- getting 'lit' meant the person had had 6 or 2 too many and had entered the 'too obnoxious to exist' phase, the guy with the lampshade on his head. He's the 'litwit', to be assiduously avoided.

    And #3, '3 sheets to the wind'. This individual has precariously overindulged.Virtually harmless.His 'saucy' ship is sailing to 'Oblivion Island', also known as the couch in the corner.

  • something special that sets one apart or gives one an edge. Seventies Chicago street slang, from Brylcreem ad line, "Brylcreem: a little dab'll do ya".
    He'll make the scene, dig, he's got that little dabadoya.

Little Dog Syndrome

  • a person who is slight in stature, who has a short temper and something to prove. They are often rambunctious, loud, and fronting. This is thought to be how a person with Little Dog Syndrome tries of overcompensate for their slight stature. Much in the way a small dog does.
    Person 1: Man, Marty always ends up bitching up a storm when we go out with him.

    Person 2: That's cuz the little bitch is only 5 feet tall. He got the little dog syndrome, man!
