smoker

"A smoker" is someone who is addicted to smoking crack cocaine, and whose addiction prevents them from being completely trustworthy or able to follow through on commitments. This term is not a form of denigration- it doesn't make them a bad person or consign them to a criminal class. It simply calls attention to their limitations in relationship to everyday activities. Example of usage: "Nah, he a smoker, so he don't show up to practice on-time, or at all. But when he do get here, he's ready to play and he's tight." Usage noted in San Francisco & Oakland California during from the 1990's to the present day.

a test of a new, repaired, or modified piece of electronic equipment whereby power is turned on, and people nearby look for smoke.

to smoke marijuana. Allegedly, in certain areas of the US, people say "smoke down" instead.
