shiny

  • I believe this use of shiny developed on the Colorado College campus, and have no idea if it has reached beyond that. It started out being used to mean "distracting in a good way," its definition has now expanded to include "very good." It is often used in place of other slang words like "cool."
    I didn't get my work done because I was distracted by all kinds of shiny people.

    I can't walk through the mall without having to stop every five feet because of Michelle's Shiny Object Syndrome. She has to stop at nearly every store.

  • stuck somewhere without a way to get home, escape or get out of the situation. Also, if one has taken too many drugs, drank too much, etc. and is in no condition to drive.
    I'm shipwrecked in Richmond - the BART train derailed.
