burn a bridge

verb

  • to ruin a relationship. Usually used in the business sense.
    Always avoid burning a bridge if you can avoid it. And you can almost always avoid it.
    On my last day, I sent a "screw off" email to everybody in the office.   • having smoked so much marijuana that a person is slow, dumb, or act like they are under the influence when they aren't. Usually someone who has been smoking on a regular basis for several years. Pronounced burnt.
    Jimmy wouldn't be so burned if he hadn't been smoking since he was ten.
